Enitre Cantona Gameworld Roundup for Season 4

February 25th, 2009

Hello and welcome to the first official GW round up of the Cantona GW, the very first Football Manager Live Retail Game World  and quite simply the best!! we have just finished our 4th season and now things are getting very interesting indeed. Established teams having to overcome the many difficulties with new challenges such as new financial systems, and the colossal update that brought the introduction of stadiums. Now would be the time for new members to join as people still are transitioning to stadium income, and some bargain buys and Wage Auction steals are currently on the market. And if that doesn’t convince, then hopefully this round up will. Be warned though this is one hell of a long read.

Starting with the Casual Weekday Association, in the CWA Non-Premiership Cup there was a thrilling 2 legged final in which Bodelwyddan F.C took on FC Wardinio, the first leg finished 2-2 at Ty Fry Lane, however the return leg at Arena Wardinio, saw an own goal and a 54min winner giving FC Wardinio a 4-2 aggregate win. Following in the footsteps of Partizan Stockholm and Moveover Rovers, to become the 3rd team to lift the CWA Non-Premiership Cup.

In the CWA Casual Championship B,  there was a closely contested race to the trophy where Dave FC were pipped to the post by just 1 point while they finished on 81 points and gained promotion, it was CWA newcomers TipTop FC who did just enough finishing on 82 points to lift the CWA Casual Championship B Title.

On the same tier in the CWA Casual Championship A, it was FC kov taking the second promotion place on 83 points, but it was CWA Non-Premiership Cup winner, FC Wardinio doing the Non-Premiership double adding the CWA Casual Championship A trophy to the cabinet.

In the top flight of the CWA Casual Premiership 4 teams were unlucky enough to be relegated, The Jerky Boys, Stretford Town, Hawick Waverley FC and AFC Hodown finding that 36 points or less just wasn’t enough to survive in the top flight and will be playing Championship football next season. Meanwhile at the top of the table Northampton United finished 7 points clear of their nearest rivals on 80 points to become the 3rd newest CWA Casual Premiership Champions.

In the CWA FA Cup Final Delia’s Winning Eleven faced off against Premiership Champions Northampton United, in a close game that went down to the wire, after 1-1 in regular time with Delia’s Winning Eleven scoring in the 88th Minute then holding on in extra time, it came down to the dreaded penalty shootout. Northampton United missed their first penalty and Delia’s Winning Eleven went on to score, both sides scored their next 2 but a 4th penalty miss by Delia’s Winning Eleven leveled it at 3-3 however a second miss by Delia’s Winning Eleven and the final converted penalty by Northampton United gave them the glory and a second double winning team of the CWA as Northampton United went on to lift the CWA FA Cup.

In The Moonlight Football Association, the youth system had 3 competitions, in the MLFA U-17 League Athletico Beccles held on by one point over nearest rivals Emily to win the title by 54 points and becoming 2 time MLFA U-17 League Champions.

Emily made up for their U17 disappointment with an U21 double, Winning the MLFA U-21 League 11 points ahead of Dinamo AFC with a total of 83 points. At the same time getting through a unique setup of a 2 group stage, one game league stage and then a semi final, to face Dinamo AFC in a final at the Raw Arena. Dinamo AFC lead in the first half with a 26 minute penalty, but something must have been said to the Emily youngsters as they stormed ahead in the second half to finish the game with a dominating 5-1 finish to win the MLFA U-21 Cup.

The season opening MLFA Super Cup Final was contested by last seasons MLFA Premiership Winners and Runners-up Persepolis F.C. And FC Bellas respectively. but it was MLFA Winners Persepolis F.C. Walking away with the first trophy of the season.

Being a single league set-up the hottest prize in the MLFA is the MLFA Premiership Title and for a while it was anyone’s race with Dinamo AFC and Emily coming close, however in the final stretch it was only ever between 2 teams, Super Cup Finalists FC Bellas and Persepolis F.C. And it went down to the final day of the season and by just 1 point the spoils of the MLFA Premiership Title went to Persepolis F.C. With 108 points, adding to their Super Cup victory.

The MLFA Cup Final is currently waiting to be played but the Finalists Dinamo AFC are set to take on double champions Persepolis F.C. Can Persepolis F.C. Make it a treble? Or will Dinamo AFC put an end to Persepolis F.C.’s successful season?

In the Social Football Association many Youth Competitions were ran for season 4. At U17 level Smyrna Rangers F.C. Won the SFA U17 Cup while Kinlochshiel won the SFA U17 League Championship. At U19 level Roma Capoccia did the double winning the SFA  U19 Cup as well as the SFA U19 Championship. In the U21s Gothenburg Blues FC won the SFA U21 Cup while Roma Capoccia won the U21 Championship suggesting they have a dominating youth setup?

At Senior Level, the SFA Non-Premiership Cup was a goal fest of a 2 legged tie between Carlsberg and Kaisers which saw a 3-1 win for the home side at the Carlsberg Stadium. While at the return leg at the Theatre of Dreams, saw  Kaisers claw it back finishing normal time on 3-1 meaning 4-4 and equal away goals on aggregate, so in extra time Carlsberg Scored on 105mins and while Kaisers scored once more, it wasn’t enough and the winners on away goals and SFA Non-Premiership Cup Champions were Carlsburg.

In the Social Championship A 4 teams are waiting for playoffs to commence to know if they will be playing SFA Premiership football next season. But the story of the league was AFC Plymouth with a dominating 9 point lead over Youth winner Roma Capoccia with 112 point lifting the Social Championship A trophy.

It was a similar story in the Social Championship B with 4 teams waiting on playoffs, and another Double Non-Premiership Cup story as Carlsburg with an 8 point diffrence with 116points over spurs allstars 108 giving them the SFA Social Championship crown to add to their Cup silverware.

In the SFA Social Premiership the unlucky 6 of Horrible, Horrits F.C, Bobans Beard AFC, Ecko Utd, Botofogo United SK Galatasaray and Glemsford Lads will find themselves in the Championship tier next season. At the top of the table however it was Let’s be having you lifting the title with 81 points retaining the SFA Social Premiership for a second season, do we have an SFA dynasty on our hands? Or wil Roma Capoccia’s dominating youths come of age with their promotion and make a challenge?

The SFA Platinum Cup Final was an away goal fest, with Glemsford Lads winning the first game 3:0 away at Home spot but NoWhere battled back in the second leg to win 4-1 at The Reck and lift the SFA Platinum Cup.

Meanwhile in the SFA Cup it was quite an even encounter between RSCL Standard and Preston Utd, however RSCL Standard got the best of it winning out in a 2-0 victory at Si Towers to be crown SFA Cup Champions.

The Weekend Casual FA had a 4 team youth league and it was Calvin United that Beat Special K to the Title with 2 points to spare with 22 points to steal away the previous winners WCA Youth League Trophy.

In the WCA Non-Premiership Cup it was home team advantage in both legs as ESTEGHLAL beat Zeelandia Middelburg 2-0 at Azadi Stadium, while the second leg went to extra time and finally penalties at the VeersePoort Stadium whre Zeelandia Middelburg also scored 2-0, ESTEGHLAL could only score their first penalty while Zeelandia Middelburg put all 4 pens that were needed away to be lift the WCA Non-Premiership Cup.

In the Weekend League One A it was FC Jaworzno who pipped Llandrindod Wells FC to the divisional title by 9 points finishing on 72 points, while in Weekend League One B, Non-Premiership Cup Finalist ESTEGHLAL overcame their cup disappointment stomping the league by 16points over Sporting Morden finishing on 80 points.

In the Weekend Premiership a pattern seems to be emerging with the winners and runners-up mirroring the previous 2 seasons with FC Zagorze in second with 83 Points and Calvin United 1st with 89 Points to become 3 time Weekend Casual Premiership Champions. Can anyone prise the trophy from Calvin United’s Grip?

In the Weekend Casual Cup it was RITCHIE’S ROVER’S who overcame EvilAsh FC in an 2-1 encounter to become the 4th and newest Weekend Casual Cup holders.

In the Nighttime Football Association, the first silverware on offer was the NFA Shield. Season 3’s Premiership champions Grabimbida Scrufoviznek reached the final after beating last seasons Division 1A and Non-Premiership Cup winners Sambro FC 7-4 on aggregate. There they were met by last seasons NFA Nighttime Cup runners-up Boavista Redbull after they got revenge and beat Season 3’s NFA Nighttime Cup winner Bully Wee Clive 4-1, the final went to penalties where Grabimbida Scrufoviznek won out 4-2 to become the first ever to lift the NFA Shield.

In youth terms there’s only one competition in the NFA, being the NFA U21 Championship, and only 2 teams have stepped up and battled over it over the last 3 seasons, Skellington C.F. Won the first in season 2, however in season 3 and season 4 it was a reversal of fortunes as Mcluskyism FC over come Skellington C.F. In season 3 and again this season winning the league with 66 points.

Being the only division for promotion to the NFA Premiership, the NFA Division 1A was a hotly contested competiton, however where it matters is lifting silverware and that honour went to FC Flamengos who won the league with 70 points, 2 ahead of Motherwell City.

At the moment we are waiting to hear about promotion and relegation confirmation in the NFA but in the NFA Premiership it was very close at the top of the table, going down to the wire with it being a 3 horse rase, Mcluskyism just couldn’t take the final run in and only managed to finish on 81 points and took 3rd place, Boavista Redbull FC were close but no cigar as they finished on 84 points but it was I Gazzilori who rose to the top and took on the challenge, finishing top of the pile by just 1 point on 85 points to become NFA Premiership Champions.

In the NFA Nighttime Cup final it was the NFA Shield holders Grabimbida Scrufoviznek against Premiership Champions I Gazzilori, it was a close games with goals going back and for however it was a 53 and 90+3 minute winner for Grabimbida Scrufviznek to win the game 4-2 and the glory of the NFA Nighttime Cup.

In the Afternoon Football Association Youth System, there has only been one team to talk about in recent seasons, and in the Afternoon U19 Youth League it was Mitsubishi Warriors successful again, winning it with 29points just 6 ahead of nearest rivals Sullster Allstars.

Making it a second Youth trophy, Mitsubishi Warriors added the Afternoon U21 Cup to their collection, however AFA newcomers London Scottish took them all the way to penalties in which was a nerve wrecking encounter both sides missing and converting penalties but Mitsubishi Warriors won it with a final score of  7-6.

Mitsubishi Warriors almost made it a youth treble with the Afternoon U21 League, but this was a much tighter contest. That went down to the last games of the season, U21 Cup Finalists London Scottish Finished on 36 points just 1 point away from what was needed to win it but that being said they still finished 3rd.  Mitsubishi Warriors were matched on points but just didnt score enough goals with the eventual winners on 37 points and only winning it on goal difference Havnar Boltfelag were crowned Afternoon U21 League Champions, Finally overcoming Mitsubishi Warriors Grip on this U21 league and become 2 time champions after their season 1 success.

The Afternoon Community Shield  was contested all the champions of season 3 competitions, Last seasons AFA Cup winners Athletico Daffy took on last seasons Community Shield and Afternoon Premiership runners-up Havnar Boltfelag, while last seasons U21 dominating Mitsubishi Warriors took on the season 3 Premiership winners Rooster Blues. And after 2 seasons of seeing Havnar Boltfelag victorious over Rooster Blues Season 4 saw new finalists and of course new holders. Mitsubishi Warriors young side did just enough to see off Athletico Daffy’s side winning 2-1 to lift the Afternoon Community Shield.

Like the MLFA the Afternoon Football Association runs a single Premier League making it a very competitive league with as many as 6 teams possibly winning it up until the last few days of the season, when it stretched out in the end to be between only 2 teams, Antonios Utd pushed hard but unfortunately 111 points wasn’t enough to take it but it was the new boys of Sporting Apocalypse showing the way to do it with 117 points to win the Afternoon Premiership.

Sporting Apocalypse made it a Premiership and League Cup double with an impressive 4-2 win over established Athletico Daffy to lift the AFA League Cup trophy making a statement to the AFA in the process.

The AFA Cup underwent a restructure and renaming to be called the Afternoon Champions Cup and the final was contested against last seasons AFA Cup finalist Rooster Blues and Formidable opponents Paris Saint-Germain FC, the contest finished 4-1 with Rooster Blues overcoming their Cup Final curse and making up for their poor league performance this season taking home the newly named Afternoon Champions Cup.

The Early Evening Football Association had a youth academy league set-up consisting of an U18 league and an U21 league. In the EEFA Young Guns U18 Academy, it was France  walking away with it comfortably with a 14 point lead over their nearest rivals to win with 59 points. In the EEFA Academy Training for the U21s it was France again dominating 11 points clear at the top with 118points. Could they one of Cantona GW’s best youth systems?

In the EEFA Non-Premiership Cup was a goal scorers treat, both legs finished 2-2 but veterans fc sober were too much for new boys Coopers Utd when it came down to penalties winning 4-2 to lift the EEFA Non-Premiership Cup.

The EEFA have a 3 tier system however while Atletic Lund won the Early Evening Division 1 Title they have left the GW so promotions for the Premiership are yet to be confirmed and its much the same case for Early Evening Division 2 which was won by Japan, but notable performances go to Neville Neville XI and Unforgiven City in Division 1 and Robbo Rangers, Empire Omonoia and Coopers Utd in Division 2, but promotion/relegations are yet to be confirmed at this time.

The unfortunate 4 in the Early Evening Premiership are The Lincoln Bankers, Cheverell FC, Scott’s SuperStars and Sultans United F.C. Who will be playing Divisional Football next season, at the top of the table there only seemed to be one winner, Pandor United stormed the league to win on 85 points while it was only 7 points ahead of runners-up and last seasons winners FC ALZA a superior goal diffrence suggested there was only one conclusion. Perhaps next season FC ALZA can regain the title? Or will Pandor United go on to show their goalscoring power again next season?

In the EEFA Cup, fc sober tried to make it a Cup double reaching the final. However it was youth champions France who pushed it all the way to a penalty shoot out after 2-2 in normal time and all square in extra time. France went on to win it 3-2 on penalties to deny fc sober a second trophy.

The Primetime Football Association has a full Youth system of U17, U19 and U21 league and cups. In the PFA U17s Cup, Amola Stars Held Gbas Go Farmer Team 1-1 at home in the first leg at the Bianconi Arena, but fell victim to a 2-0 score line at the T Arena giving Gbas Go Farmer the PFA U17s Cup.

In the PFA U17s League, Gbas Go Farmer Team fell short by just 2 points in the race for the U17s title but with 46 points its Olympe taking the silverware.

At U19 Level, Reymonta LUBIN did a league and Cup double winning comfortably in 2-0 final to lift the PFA U19s Cup. While cruising to a 7 point lead over Crazy Diamondz totalling 51point to win the PFA U19s League.

In the U21s, Reymonta LUBIN impressed again winning the PFA U21s Cup 2-1 against Guildford Badgers, but couldn’t quite compete in the U21 League which was Won by Crazy Diamondz on 82 points.

The PFA Non-Premership Cup Final pitted FC Stuff against Cockleberry Finn F.C, the first leg at Bakkedal Arena saw a close contest in which FC Stuf got a late winner to take a 2-1 win to Cockleberry Finn F.C’s Grotty Dump Stadium, however the score was not needed as FC Stuf proceeded to win 2-0 and 4-1 on aggregate to lift the PFA Non-Premiership trophy.

The senior set-up in the Primetime Football Association is a 4 tiered league system, in the PFA Division 3 Wolverine lifted the trophy after a 78point performance. In PFA Division 2 sadly Broke, Alford Stars and Minsthorpe Rangers are the unlucky teams to be playing Division 3 football next season, while at the top of the table there are play-off places to be confirmed but in second place and hopefully playing division 1 football next season is Jandarmii Dorobantu finishing on 68 points. However story of the division is Cockleberry Finn F.C demolishing the league a full 24 point lead to snap up the PFA Division 2 Trophy with an impressive 92 points.

Those set for the drop in the PFA Division 1 are Marsek United. FC Long John United and Satchpig United, top of the table however is a little tricky, Hands won it on 68 points but have left the GW so Smith Farm Eagles FC can claim themselves to be Unoffical PFA Division 1 champions.

Sat at the bottom of the PFA Premier League are FC Eik, Broughton Babe’s and Newhaven Town, who will be looking to bounce back up from PFA Division 1 next season, meanwhile there were was another case of a 2 horse race at the end of the season but 2 time PFA Premier League winners Amola Stars could only manage 73 points this season while Absquatulation finished strongly on 81 points to tear the PFA Premier League Title away from Amola Stars grip for the first time in 3 seasons.

It was a similar story in the PFA Elite Cup, a competition for the Premier League teams, where the final was against Amola Stars and Absquatulation. It was a somewhat nervy final but equal overall the only difference really being Absquatulations 48min goal which was enough to win the tie 1-0 and winning the first ever PFA Elite Cup.

The PFA Cup was Amola Stars salvation after missing out on the Elite Cup and Premier League Title where they proceeded to beat Fc Supafly in an impressive 6-1 display to lift the Trophy.

The All Evening Football Association runs a youth system for every age level. In the All Evening U17 League, Spartak Abusi crushed all in their path to win with 41 points, a superb 13 points head of nearest competitors Smegheads FC. However Smegheads FC made up for it in the All Evening U18 League winning it by a massive 21 points and 119 in total ahead of People’s Front of Judea. In the All Evening U19 League it was Smegheads FC again sitting pretty at the top of the table, this time beating Team-Noir by 11 points with 72 in total to win it for a second straight time. Smegheads FC came close to making it a youth league treble in the All Evening U21 League taking it right down to the wire finishing on 127 points, however so did Team-Noir who managed a goal difference just 5 better than Smegheads FC to lift the U21 League trophy for an impressive 4th consecutive time. Smegheads FC got revenge in the All Evening Youth Cup final however beating Team-Noir to a 5-3 aggregate score to add the Cup to their impressive youth league trophy haul.

The AEFA Supercup Final was a contest between last seasons AEFA Premiership winners and runners-up, LocoLopes and Dyzfunktional FC with Dyzfunktional FC getting the better of the contest to win 2-0 and becoming the first ever AEFA Supercup Champions
The All Evening Football Association runs a single Premier Division with 3 Division one leagues that gain entry into the Premiership. In All Evening D1A |Ghetto United FC won the divisional trophy with 91 points and gain entry into the Premiership, the second team from the division is still pending due to some members leaving. In All Evening D1B with 76 points PATRIK 2007 UNITED have gained entry into the premiership but it wasnt enough to lift the title, that honour went to Olympique de PASLY with 87 points. In All Evening D1C T.N.I.S finished 2nd on 84 points but the All Evening D1C title goes to Rossington United with a solid 90 point performance.

The very unfortunate dreaded bottom 6 of the All Evening Premiership were Early Doors FC, Rockledge Colts, Bridgeholme Buccaneers, Shankley Gates, Guru United and Veroia United, hopefully they can bounce back and be playing Premiership football again soon. Top of the table however was a very exiting encounter in which for a time 3 teams could of won it, R.A.T United however couldn’t handle the pressure and finished 3rd on 81 points, however story of the premiership was the battle between LocoLopes and Dyzfunktional FC that went down to the wire and the teams couldn’t be separated on points both finishing on 88points, however with just 7 more on goal difference it was LocoLopes retaining their All Evening Premiership at the end of a thrilling season.

The AEFA Interdivision Cup Final saw Premiership Champions LocoLopes taking on the youth trophy hoarding Smegheads FC however experience prevailed over youthful enthusiasm as LocoLopes lifted the first ever AEFA Interdivision Cup with a 2-1 win.

Breaking up the usual suspects in the Cup finals or League contentions were Spartak Abusi who reached the Final of the All Evening Cup Final, where they met LocoLopes. With a close encounter that could of gone either way a 52minute Red card for LocoLopes saw them down to 10men they subsequently conceded 2 goals in the space of 10mins and despite clawing a goal back on 69minutes it wasnt enough and Spartak Abusi were crowned All Evening Cup Champions.

The Xtreme Evening Football Association ran U17, U18 and U19 Leagues with a U21 Youth Cup. In the Xtreme Youth League U17 it was F.C. Juventus crushing the league with a 23 point lead above nearest rivals Dunluce Village to win the league with 88 points for a second straight season. In the Xtreme Youth League U19 Samba Allstars beat la grande motte by 8 points in the league to win it with 62 points again for the second time. In the Xtreme Youth League it was Puymasson Cows who managed to break 2 time champs la grande motte’s grip on the title finishing on 99 points just 1 point ahead of Ipfdgl FC to win the title. In the Xtreme Youth Cup it was a 3rd Straight Cup Win for Ipfdgl FC as they beat Jaws F.C 3-0 in the final.

The Xtreme Evening Non-Premiership Cup was won by la grande motte after a 1-0 away win and a comfortable 2-0 home tie lift the Cup infront of their home fans with a 3-0 aggregate score.

The Xtreme Evening Football Association runs a 3 tiered system and in the bottom tier are 3 equal divisions with top 2 getting promoted. In Xtreme Evening Division 1A, it was FC Olgert and Team Johansen finishing close together with 1 point in it, but lifting the Divisional Trophy were Team Johansen with 158 points. In the Xtreme Evening Division 1B it was The Lyons Eleven with 160 points lifting the cup and still waiting on confirmation of the 2nd team as there were some administrative issues. In Xtreme Evening Division 1C Devils bats Sochaliens finished Second on 162 points but 11 points short of league winners Sampdoria Noumea. In the Xtreme Championship the dirty half dozen to go down were Liverpool LFC, kent lions, Dribbling Idiots FC Bosanski Brod, Club the Strongest and Alba Gu Brath, top of the table there were 4 teams eligible for promotion to the premiership but while we await confirmations of those there is no question that league leaders la grande motte are deserved champions, adding to their Xtreme Non-Premiership Cup win, while they wont be able to defend their Cup crown surely the hard work of the Premiership will be just as much a good challenge for them.

Speaking of the challenges of the Xtreme Evening Premiership, those not quite up to the task were the unfortunate 4 of FC Shala, Yoshinoya FC, Sporting Clube de Portugal and The schizos FC. Last seasons Premiership champions, Woeful Way to Glory couldn’t quite find it within themselves to retain the title failing by 14 points behind Royal Cracovia FC who finished with 170 points to become the 3rd different Xtreme Evening Premiership Champions, proving to be one of the harder competitions to succeed in.

In the Xtreme Evening Cup it was Pymasson Cows and Sporting Benfica who got through the massive competition to face off in the final. But it whas Pymasson Cows who came out victorious with a narrow 1-0 win to be crowned Xtreme Evening Cup Champions.

The Xtreme Football Association is not for the faint at heart, and at youth level its the same story with a unique Youth setup with a Challenge League for the u17s and u19s while the u21s have a youth Premiership.

In the Xtreme Youth Challenge u17s it was Marston Town refusing to let go of their grip on the  trophy winning it for a 3rd straight season ahead of  Skaala. The battle was on again in the Xtreme Youth Challenge U19s however Skaala came off second best again behind Marston Town, adding to their youth trophy cabinet. In the Xtreme Youth Premiership for the U21s Marston Town Tried to make it a youth league treble but they were thwarted by Fade X-Ones.

In the XFA Non-Premiership Cup, it was Paris United vs Underground FC, Paris United Scored first on 40mins but were pegged back on  56mins and later at 80mins Underground FC battled for the winning goal to win the XFA Non-Premiership Cup.

In the XFA Division 1 Cup Marston Town tried to add further to their trophy cabinet but were halted by Sporting Gijon who took it to the dying seconds in extra time to score the winning goal in a 2-1 contest, awarding them the trophy. In the XFA League Cup, Cardiff city f.c beat The Roo’s FC 2-0 in a comfortable final after scoring both goals in the first half.

The XFA Community Shield was contested by all of season 3 XFA competition winners or runners-up, but it was XFA Premier League winners World Class F.C against rivals and runners-up Chesterfield Town FC, however they managed to get their revenge on World Class F.C by winning the tie comfortably 2-0.

The XFA senior structure is a simple 3 tier system with 2 divisions on the 3rd tier. In XFA Division 1A it was Wandsworth SW18 taking the title with 204 points a full 37 points away from Dodo United. Over in XFA Division 1B Glasgow Celtic Football Club did enough for pomotion finishing 2nd 19 points behind the winners ramblers FC who had 176 points, no news as yet on who get promoted to the championship.

Speaking of the XFA Championship, the teams expecting Division 1 footbal next season are , FC Warszawa, Lucchese, Essex Elite FC,  les gobelins, Reigada and The Roo’s FC. Top of the table however saw Underground FC take second on 144 points but not enough to knock Salford Mustangs off the top spot with 146 points and giving them the XFA Championship title.

In the hardest of hardcore leagues that is known as the XFA Premier League, the ones that found it too hard for them and will possibly be playing Championship football next season are The Mighty Bloods, Skaala, Sporting Club de London and Romping Lane Rovers. Top of the table it almost seemed like business as usual as the top 2 teams that battled it out last season were there abouts again this season with Chesterfield Town FC pushing World Class F.C. To the limit, however Chesterfield Town FC could only manage 157 points while World Class F.C. Managed to lift the XFA Premiership title for a 3rd successive season with 176 points. Can anyone stop this possible Dynasty of a team from walking away with the XFA Premiership title next season?

Trying to add to his XFA Premiership domination, World Class F.C. Made it to the final against previous winner GalAnime.com and with the scores tied after normal time at 1-1 and neither side breaking the deadlock it came down to the infamous penalty shootout. World Class F.C. Missed their first 2 penalties while GalAnime.Com converted all theirs to win the shootout with a final score of 4-2, giving them their second successive XFA Cup.

We are currently waiting on UFFA comp Finals to be played out but keep an eye out as a roundup will be coming about these very prestigious competitions.

Looking back over the season the Famous and Infamous, (depending on your opinion of it) Cantona Game World Champion that is defended in every senior game played was held by The Seoul Searchers at the start of the season but was quickly lost an hour and 5mins into the new season to Kinlochshiel. The GW Champion Crown bounced around from team to team throughout the season, the most notable holders were the likes of Dyzfunktional FC who held it a total of 3 times times and Absqatulation with an astonishing 21 defences as well as a further 2 times of holding the crown. The current holder at the time the season officially ended was NoWhere from the SFA, but as of this writing its World Class F.C. Proudly wearing the crown right now.

Not only that he is sitting on top of the Gameworld Rankings in 1st place as shown the Top 10 Rankings currently are

1st World Class F.C.
2nd LocoLopes
3rd Dyzfunktional FC
4th FC ALZA
5th Royal Cracovia FC
6th Absquatulation
7th Smegheads FC
8th Amola Stars
9th Woeful Way To Glory
10th Fade X-Ones

AFA Season 3 Roundup

January 28th, 2009

Welcome to the newest edition of the Afternoon Football Association End of Season Recap. The 1st, the original, the biggest, the BEST. (simia_troglodyte)

With the AFA moving to a single Premiership format for Season 3 every competition was highly sort after and the first trophy of the season was no exception. The AFA community shield was contested by Rooster Blues, Havnar Boltfelag, Ruskin Park Rangers and Mitsubishi Warriors all of which won competitions from last season.

In the Semi-Finals it was Season 2’s AFA Non-Premiership’s runner up who qualified for this event via AI% Ruskin Park Rangers, loosing out 2-1 to Season 2’s AFA Premier League Champions Rooster Blues. Joining them in the finals were bitter rivals who famously battled them in all competitions last season, Season 2’s AFA Cup Champions Havnar Boltfelag who beat last seasons Youth Team dominating Mitsubishi Warriors 3-1, showing that age and experience has some advantage over youth and energy.

So it was a repeat of last seasons Community Sheild, bitter rivals battling it out again for the first silverware of the season. With managers from all over the AFA attending to watch the match big things were expected, however a drab match by both teams standards and it wasnt until the 85th minute did the deadlock and the eventual winning goal get scored, and it was Havnar Botfelag again who retained the AFA Community Shield denying rooster Blues yet again, did Alexander Tikhov have Russel Jones’ number?

Possibly a new Dynasty of kids broke out onto the world stage when Mitsubishi Warriors, after a dominating U21 season last season winning both the U21 League and Cup, failed to reach this years U21 Cup Final, crashing out in the first round to Antonios United 4-3 on aggregate. This years final was contested by last seasons runner-up Athletico Daffy and new kids Havnar Botfelag. Again the game took place with many AFA managers in attendence, and perhaps such attention took its toll on the kids it was a tense 0-0 game, that is until the 4th minute of added time when Havnar Boltfelag snatched the 1-0 win, disgusted by such a late goal what can only be described as a moment of madness at the final whistle Athletico Daffy manager walked into the middle of the pitch, proceeded to drop his pants and moon the attending crowd in disgust (mooning) . Alexander Tikhov took no notice and proceeded to lift his second piece of silverware of the season the U21 Cup trophy.

New to this season was the U19 league, giving the really young kids a chance to shine and not be overpowered by their slightly older players with 5 teams competing it was a closely contested competition going down to the wire, however Mitsubishi Warriors proved their eye for young talent is still the envy of the AFA finishing the season top of the league on 33points only 3points ahead of Havnar Boltfelag.

And almost as if to say that their U21 Cup exit was just a blip Mitsubishi Warriors proceeded to Retain the U21 League with 61points, 4points ahead of Havnar Boltfelag yet again. Can the youth trophys ever be stolen away from The Dungeon?

In the AFA Cup Havnar Boltfelag’s impressive cup final appearances finally came to an end, when they lost out to Athletico Daffy 2-0 in the Semi-Finals, Sweet revenge for the U21 Cup final Perhaps? So the showcase cup of the AFA was held, scheduled at a time for as many managers as possible to attend, and even an apearance by the unofficial Cantona GW Queen Hannah Swanson who was in attendence. This was the big one, a new AFA Cup Champion would be crowned Athletic Daffy vs Rooster Blues. The game looked even in the first half, both sides getting their chances, however David Dryden must of said something to his team at half time as they started to make better and get more of the chances, and their efforts finally arrived in the 63rd minute sinking Rooster Blues’ fans hearts, they never really looked like getting back into the game and when the final whistle went Altheltico Daffy entered the small group of AFA Champions and earning a Cup Winners Cup place for next season lifting the prestigious Afternoon Football Association Cup.

With the restructuring of the AFA Senior leagues every league place could prove to be key, due to the positions of Cup Winners in the AFA league standings Antonios United and Cockleberry Fin FC gained entry into the UFFA Cup Winners Cup competition for finishing 7th and 9th respectively and having good AI%. New boys FC Eagles made good strides finishing in 3rd place gaining entry into the UFFA Silver Cup along with Paris Saint-Germain FC who finished 4th. But yet again, for the second season, it was the rivalry that eclipses them all, bigger than Manchester United and Liverpool, Real Madrid and Barcelona, Celtic and Rangers, yes the AFA Premiership Title was contested, and while for the most part it looked quite open at one point Paris Saint-Germain and even new boys FC Eagles sat at the top of the league for a time. However it was Havnar Boltfelag and Rooster Blues breaking away again in a race for the title braking the 100point barrier. For all their upsets and heartache in the cups Rooster Blues showed a league form anyone would be envious of winning 37matches drawing just 4 and only loosing 11 games, 8 of which away from home, finishing the season with 4 game still to play on an astounding 115points 14 clear of Rivals Havnar Boltfelag. Such an impressive season can only be applauded and everyone from the AFA congratulated Russell Jones and his Rooster Blues team on becoming 2 time Afternoon Football Association Champions.

In UFFA competitions the AFA had a respectable showing, Paris Saint-Germain managed to get through the group stage, however lost out in the last 16 stage loosing 4-2 to AFC Garuda, Perth Glory FC managed to go one better and reached the Quarter-Finals, however they crashed out to a narrow 2-1 defeat to Morover Rovers. Mitsubishi Warriors unfortunately finished bottom of their group in the World Youth Cup bringing their ego from season 2’s AFA U21 Domination down to earth. In the UFFA Silvr Cup, Athletic Daffy emulated the Warriors performance, finishing bottom of their group, however Cockleberry Finn FC did reach the Last 16 only to go out 4-2 to Devils bats Sochaliens. In the prestigious UFFA Gold Cup, havnar Boltfelag could only finish 3rd in their group and will be looking to improve on that next season, while Rooster Blues getting through to the last 16 but unfortunately like most of the AFA that progressed in the UFFA tournaments loosing 4-1 to Leigh Rangers.

Also in an initiative created by AFA Organisers, and to create some banter and competition between FAs, the AFA vs CWA league was created, where 5 teams from each FA play eachother in a standard league format, with the winning FA being the FA with the most participating teams in the top 5, currently with no fewer than 4 teams in the top 5, and a possibility of a clean swap the AFA is proving to be the more competitve of the small FAs.

Along with the AFA vs CWA league, there was an Inter-TimeZone Championships created as a competetive competition between the 3 overlaping FAs timewise, being the AFA the EEFA and the PFA, the AFA will fewer members have done well to get 3 teams through to the last 16 and a definate 2 teams into the Quarter-Finals, proving that small FAs can compete at a high level.

While other FAs have pre-selected their players of the season, the AFA prides itself on involving its members and has a selection of votes for many awards, and results will be posted hopefully before the start of season 4 and 3 Teams of the Season will follow shortly.

AFA Season 2 Roundup

January 28th, 2009

The Second Afternoon Football Association Season got off to a great start with the Afternoon Charity Shield.Winners of both Qualifying leagues, Rooster Blues and Havnar Boltfelag battled it out till Havnar Boltfelag got what would be the winning goal on 66 minutes. Winning 1-0 and crowned Afternoon Charity Shield Champions.

Rooster Blues vowed revenge and got a second chance in the Afternoon Cup when they met Havnar Boltfelag again in the final, this was a more eventful and even affair. Havnar Boltfelag came out on top again however winning a cup double adding Afternoon Cup Championship to their trophy cabinet and entry into the Cup Winners’ Cup with a 2-1 victory.

Elsewhere, in the Afternoon Non-Premiership Cup Final, Les Gunners HKFC beat Ruskin Park Rangers 3-1 to become Afternoon Non-Premiership Cup Champions, however due to Les Gunners HKFC leaving the Game World, runner ups Ruskin Park Rangers will be playing Cup Winners’ Cup football next season.
In the U21 Comps, Robert Webbs U21 Mitsubishi Warriors showed their dominance doing the U21 Double, beating Havnar Boltfelag by 6 points in the Afternoon U21 League to lift the trophy as well as beating Athletico Daffy 1-0 in a close final to become Afternoon U21 Cup Champions also.

The Afternoon Championship was a bit of a nightmare administratively, Les Gunners HKFC were again crowned Champions but with a shocking 16 teams over the 65% AI limit and Les Gunners HKFC leaving the GW, only 2 teams were eligible for promotion, Gokhan Kurt’s FC Patapon and Dean RPR’s Ruskin Park Rangers

In the Afternoon Premiership the bottom 3 teams relegated to the Afternoon Championship, were Dynamiska FF, JDA Revolution and oilers Joining them however, due again to the 65% AI limit are the teams of Candlemass, Academy FC, and Polat’in Adamlari.
In the top half of the table Silver Cup places go to Athletico Daffy and Cockleberry Finn F.C for finishing 3rd and 4th respectively. Cup Winners’ Cup places have also been awarded to 5th and 6th placed Paris Saint-Germain FC and Perth Glory FC, because last seasons Qualifying group winners who have battle each other in the cups and the league all season finished in the top 2, and with them meeting in the Afternoon Cup Final, the Cup Winners’ Cup places went to the next lower places. So it was the bitter rivals again battling it out all season long over the Afternoon Premiership Title. And it was Rooster Blues who finally overcame their disappointments in the cups, finishing above Havnar Boltfelag 11 points more on 82 doing it in style Lifting the Afternoon Premiership trophy with 3 games still left to play.

The Afternoon Football Association was represented admirably in all Union of FML Football Associations competitions, Mitsubishi Warriors unfortunately finished bottom of their group in the World Youth Cup but Havnar Boltfelag made it to the Quarter Finals however loosing out on away goals after a 4-4 and 1-1 adventure. In the Cup Winners’ Cup the AFA Paris Saint-Germain FC failed to get past the group stages however the teams of Athletico Daffy and Knutsen FC got through their group stages, and got past the last 16 to meet in the Quarter Finals. Knutsen FC came out on top however winning 3-1 on aggregate. They went on to the Cup Winners’ Cup Final however lost out in a close game 2-1 to Xtreme Evening Football Association’s Royal Cracovia FC. There was heartache in the Silver Cup as Candlemass and Dagantu F.C. failed to get out of their group stages and Perth Glory FC failing to get past the last 16. In the Gold Cup, Havnar Boltfelag failed to get past the group stage but Rooster Blues did manage to reach the last 16 before lossing 3-1 to Woeful Way To Glory

Congratulations to all the Champions, and Union of FML Football Associations Qualification winners and those promoted to the Afternoon Premiership. And Commiserations to those relegated into the Afternoon Championship or those that did not finish where they would of liked in all competitions.
